Bear Witness: Queer Masculinity In Motion

On Display July 31, 2026 - August 31, 2026

Bear Witness: Masculinity in Motion explores the power, vulnerability, and cultural significance of Bear identity within the LGBTQ+ community. Through photography, archival materials, and newly recorded oral histories, the exhibition traces how Bear culture has shaped expressions of masculinity, belonging, and self‑definition across generations. Visitors will hear directly from Bear‑identifying individuals whose stories illuminate community, desire, humor, resilience, and the evolving landscape of queer masculinity. Together, these voices and visuals create a living archive—one that honors the people who built this culture and the movement it continues to inspire.

OPENING RECEPTION
Friday, July 31st at 6:00 PM

Join us for the opening reception of Death by AIDS: Eternity Through Art and stand with us in community as we lift up the artists whose lives were cut short but whose art endures.

Death by AIDS: Eternity Through Art honors the brilliance, courage, and creative force of artists whose lives were cut short by the AIDS epidemic. Centered on the work of a featured artist—alongside others who never had the chance to see their full potential realized—the exhibition restores these creators to the cultural landscape from which they were erased. Through paintings and photographs visitors encounter the vibrancy of lives interrupted and the enduring power of their artistic voices. This exhibition stands as both remembrance and reclamation, ensuring that these artists are not lost to history but held, celebrated, and carried forward through the art they left behind.
