Stonewall National Museum, Archives, & Library (SNMAL) operates one of the leading gay archives in America and the Stonewall Library which remains the largest LGBTQ+ collection in the world. Stonewall presents an annual series of exhibitions, programs, workshops, and discussions with a goal to connect members of our community with a wide variety of ideas and perspectives..

This reading and conversation offers an intimate look at his investigative process, his commitment to truth‑telling, and the power of reclaiming community memory. It promises to be a thoughtful, resonant event for readers, writers, and history‑lovers alike.

Following the film, Janis Ian will join us live for an intimate conversation and audience Q&A — a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the most influential voices in music, storytelling, and LGBTQ+ history.

This special event offers an engaging look at the stories behind his reporting, the communities that shaped them, and the power of documenting queer experience across borders.

The exhibition shines a long‑overdue light on Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, the brilliant military strategist whose training transformed the Continental Army and helped secure America’s independence. Though history often obscures it, von Steuben was a gay man whose life and legacy were shaped by the queer networks that supported him.
