Stonewall National Museum – Wilton Manors will be closed for a private reception honoring the life our beloved friend Garrison Philips, a Virginia Woolf Legacy Circle supporter of the museum. Friends and family of Garrision are invited to attend.
Arthur Garrison Phillips, age 89, died on March 13, 2019. He hailed from Elkins, WV and was a graduate of WVU, a Korean War Veteran, an actor, an activist, and an author.
He was a model and appeared on the New York stage. His blog, Everyday Strolls, ran for ten years. His book, Back on Cheat: Stories of West Virginia showcased his folksy and intimate writing style. Known for his story telling and movie star good looks, he moved to South Florida as a young man of seventy-nine and formed a community of friends that became his family. A memorial service to celebrate Garrison’s life will be held at Stonewall Museum in Wilton Manors, Florida on April 13th at 2:00 p.m.
