THE PANZI INVASION: FROM PROTEST TO PARTY…CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF THE INVASION OF THE PINES
Featuring Panzi herself, aka Thom Hansen and fillmmaker Parker Sargent

The Classic Gateway Theatre, $15 Tickets at stonewall-museum.orgPANZIsmall
1820 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale

After four decades of fabulous drag queen, killer costumes and gender bending beauties; the political roots of the event may not be so obvious to those attending this July 4th celebration, but the message of equality and freedom are still as relevant today as when Panzi and a crew of protesters staged the original Invasion in 1976. From current drag icons like Roy “Bianca Del Rio” Haylock to the original founders Thom “Panzi” Hansen, Bob “Rose” Levine and Lyn Hutton, we get an intimate look at The Invasion of the Pines through personal experiences and archival footage. Parker Sargent seeks out ways to celebrate our queer world, and The Panzi Invasion is wonderful homage to acts of defiance and beauty.
